Your Data Is Being Collected, Sold, and Used—Without Your Consent

Corporations, data brokers, and government entities gather your personal information without clear disclosure. It’s time to take control.

New Mexicans deserve transparency, security, and control over their private information.

What We Need:

To address the critical gap between consumers and how our data is collected, processed, sold, and stored by online entities.

To place control back into our hands, not the hands of corporations, data brokers, or even hostile government actors. The geolocation data from fitness apps, the websites we access or the terms we search, the medication information that we add into an app, and the inferences that can be made from that data, deserve to be in our control or not collected at all.

New Mexico's data is not for sale! Everyone in New Mexico deserves to know that data related to our personal information is used appropriately. Our data should only be collected when we consent and clearly understand what it's being used for.

What's At Stake:

New Mexico has strong protections for LGBTQ+ individuals, immigrants, and those seeking or using reproductive healthcare. However, without this bill, we remain vulnerable to a hostile federal government and bad actors in neighboring states—especially in our border communities, where New Mexicans frequently cross state lines to shop, see a doctor, visit family, or attend church.

At the same time, social media platforms, online businesses, phone apps, and Big Tech collect vast amounts of personal data without our explicit consent. This information is largely unregulated, meaning companies can do whatever they want with it—including selling it to anyone willing to buy. As a result, our data is already being used to track us, hand us over to government agencies, and reveal our identities.

CHISPA is the protection we need. It ensures that big corporations, the federal government, and out-of-state prosecutors cannot weaponize our data to target trans individuals, immigrants, those receiving gender-affirming care, or people accessing reproductive healthcare. This bill is essential to safeguarding our privacy and freedoms in an increasingly data-driven world.

New Mexicans need real safety right now, more than ever.

In the future we all deserve, every New Mexican will have the right to access, correct, and delete their personal data. Transparency will become the standard, and companies will be held accountable.

We need you to sign our petition to protect our data today! NMCHISPA will protect healthcare data and personal information that - if shared - could harm New Mexicans.

As New Mexicans, we stand up for each other. Now we need to more than ever.
